Getting your tuition centre found by parents in your estate

Parents search by level, subject and location: “P5 maths tuition Punggol”, “O level chemistry tuition near me”. The centres that show up with the right class, at the right time, near home, fill their trial classes.

How parents choose a tuition centre

Few parents want a long commute after school, so most search close to home or school, and they search with precision: level (P4, Sec 3, JC1), subject, exam (PSLE, O Level, A Level) and estate. They compare a few centres nearby, look at class sizes, schedules and the teachers, read other parents’ reviews, and book a trial class. Generic “we teach all subjects” pages rarely match those searches.

Show you’re properly registered

Under the Education Act, centres teaching tuition or enrichment to ten or more students at a time must be registered with MOE, and their teachers registered too. Parents increasingly check. If you are registered, say so on your website and display your registration details as required.

What fills trial classes

  • A page per level and subject“PSLE Science”, “Sec 3 A-Math”, “JC H2 Chemistry”: each with the syllabus approach, class size, schedule, location and fees. These pages match exactly what parents type.
  • An accurate Google profile“Tutoring service” or the closest category, every subject and level listed as a service, real photos of the classrooms, and correct hours including school holidays.
  • Teacher profilesNames, qualifications and experience. Parents are choosing who teaches their child.
  • An easy trial bookingA short form or WhatsApp button for a trial class, asking for level, subject and preferred day.
  • Location for parentsThe block and street or mall, the nearest MRT and bus stops, and nearby schools you serve, in plain words.
  • Parent reviewsAsk parents, not students, for Google reviews after a term, and reply to each one.

Be careful with results and children’s data

Exam results sell tuition, but only publish students’ names, photos or grades with clear consent from parents, and keep claims verifiable. Singapore’s PDPA applies to personal data you collect through enquiry forms and trial bookings, so collect only what you need and say how you’ll use it.
