Lead generation is a path, not a channel
Owners often ask which channel to use: Google, Facebook, Instagram, ads, a new website. The better question is what happens after someone finds you. A lead is a person who found you, trusted you enough to reach out, and found it easy to do so. If any of those three steps is weak, adding more traffic simply pours more water into the same leaky bucket.
The five steps that produce enquiries
- 1. Be visible where people already lookFor most local services, that is Google Maps and search. A complete, accurate Google Business Profile — right categories, hours, photos, services — is the single highest-return starting point for a Singapore business that serves customers locally.
- 2. Look trustworthy at a glanceRecent reviews, real photos and clear service descriptions decide whether someone taps your listing or the next one. Ask happy customers for reviews as a routine, and reply to every review, good or bad.
- 3. Make enquiring effortlessA click-to-call button, a WhatsApp button and a short form — all above the fold on mobile. Most Singapore customers browse on their phones, and every extra step costs you enquiries.
- 4. Offer one clear next step“Get a quote,” “Book a free consultation,” “Request a free health check.” One specific offer converts better than a menu of vague options.
- 5. Reply fast and follow upEnquiries cool quickly. Replying the same day, ideally within minutes on WhatsApp, and following up once or twice when someone goes quiet, recovers leads many businesses never realise they lost.
Fix the website before you spend on ads
Paid ads send people to your website. If the page is slow on mobile, unclear about what you do, or buries the contact options, ad spend is wasted. A fast, simple page with a clear headline, proof (reviews, past work), and visible contact options usually outperforms a larger, prettier site that makes people hunt for a way to reach you.
Keep it PDPA-compliant
Collecting leads in Singapore means handling personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act. In practice: tell people why you are collecting their details, get their consent on your forms, use the data only for what they agreed to, and respect Do Not Call registry rules before sending marketing calls or texts to numbers. If you are unsure how it applies to your business, check the Personal Data Protection Commission's guidance or get professional advice.
Measure the few numbers that matter
You don't need a dashboard full of metrics. Track how many enquiries you get each month, where they came from (Google, WhatsApp, referral, ads), and how many turn into customers. Those three numbers tell you what to do more of — and what to stop paying for.
Where to start this week
